A supermarket may be defined as a big stores that offer a different variety and types of food and house related items, which belong to different departments. Supermarkets are more bigger in size as compared to normal market, supermarket contains a lot of food joints along with different variety of grocery items as well .

A supermarket consist of many departments, these include dairy products, meat, various baked items like cakes and stuffs. etc not only these, supermarkets are also known for providing various nonfood items and items related to households like the surface cleaners etc., nowadays alcohol are also being provided in the supermarkets as well so as to make everybody comfortable.

The main purpose of building the supermarkets was to make people do shopping under one roof, these can only be done if all the items are made available whether they are related to food, household etc. Supermarkets are not similar to hypermarkets and superstores. Supermarkets made the products available to the people at very prices this was done by reducing the prices of the product at wholesale level. Now people who buy items like bread, milk, butter, for supermarket selling of these items make no profits, therefore for them more profit is achieved only when people buy high price items as these items help them regain profits and help them in developing new offers too. When you are doing shopping in the supermarkets you usually use trolleys commonly known as shopping carts, baskets are also used that help you in carrying your items till the payment counter. Nowadays in supermarkets new technologies are being used which help you do self service checkouts and this is usually controlled by one person this helps reducing labor cost and people enjoy doing shopping in the supermarkets.

One of main reasons that people love to do shopping or buying of items from the supermarket is because of the new and new offers that are provided by company to the customer that too on daily basis. Take an example of Woolworth (one of the biggest supermarkets of Australia) offers new and new offers to its customers almost every day, this makes people to visit the supermarket on regular basis and helps the company in making huge profits. In order to buy cheap and good quality items do shopping from supermarkets as it provides the customers with best services and provide them items on lower affordable price.
